Flybe Used Actors To Avoid Penalties
Flybe has admitted asking actors and temporary staff to fill its flights in order to avoid penalties imposed for not carrying enough passengers.
The Channel Islands carrier laid on extra services today to try and meet a quota set by Norwich airport on its route to Dublin and asked workers to travel in empty seats.
Flybe had agreed to take fifteen thousand people between the two cities but because it was a hundred and seventy passengers short of the target it faced a fine of a hundred and forty thousand pounds.
Bosses at the airline say the unusual step was taken after their offer to pay part of the fine was turned down by Norwich Airport and say they'll be offsetting the evironmental impact of their decision.
