Blue Islands announces new direct Dublin Service

Jersey is to have a new year-round scheduled air service to Dublin.

The announcement has been made by local airline Blue Islands who will start the service at the end of March.

Derek Coates, Chairman of Blue Islands said:

"Direct links to Dublin were high on the wish lists of both business and tourists alike.

"The Blue Islands routes to Geneva, Zurich, Dublin and Paris now link the leading finance centres of Europe to the three crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man."

Evening flights are also being added on the Isle of Man route, making day trips possible for Jersey passengers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Due to the highly successful inter-island Jetstream service, Blue Islands are also increasing their morning and evening inter-island flight frequency to ensure that passengers are not forced to fly to Guernsey on another airline.

Flights to Dublin will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays departing Jersey at 08.00 and arrive in the Isle of Man at 09.30, leaving there again at 09.55 and arrive in Dublin at 10.30, just two and half-hours flying time from Jersey.

The return flight is direct from Dublin to Jersey departing at 10.55 and arriving in Jersey at 12.25.

The Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Deputy Alan Maclean, who has specific responsibility for Jersey Airport says:

"I am delighted that Blue Islands have responded to customer requests to add a Dublin service to their growing network.

"A year round air link to Dublin will be welcomed by key sectors of the economy as it opens up an important market for Jersey in terms of business and leisure travellers"

The Swiss, IOM and Dublin routes are all served by the 32-seat Dornier with cabin service and complimentary refreshments.
