I tried Great Union Road the other day, not impressed with the flavour at all. Oddly yellow with very oily tinge.

That was the problem with hectors too - well that, plus the fishie was literally still swimming in it's box - just in oil!

Thumbs down

The Hectors chippy at Town Mills
has caused me to be violently ill
christ knows what there doing to the food ?
3 times last year I brought food and every time
after 10 mins it all was on its way to bellozane
via the white throne or I was barking at the ants
down in Grand Vaux.

i know they use ex-chippy oil in diesil cars now
but im wondering if this chippy is using neat diesil fuel in the fat fryer???

Could be! Though it was sticky yellow goo, not black crap..!

If only I had the inclination to start a decent chippy in town - sounds as if theres a real gap in the market

The chippy, St Brelade is good, but small portions and not the cheapest that's for sure...

Yeah I'd agree with that. I'm sure fish & chips x2 + 1 chips was over a tenner. The chip portions were a little on the small side.

But the fish was cooked fresh, but I think they didn't let it drain long enough because, by the time I got to eat it, it was soggy and stuck to my chips. But tasty nonetheless.

And they don't charge for scraps !

£3 for cod & £1.50 for chips or £1.80 for large chips is a little pricy, but I'd sooner pay £4.80 for a decent chippy than £3.50-£4 for a shit chippy any day, 'you get what you pay for'
