Default Bailiff Faces Vote Of No Confidence

Jersey's Bailiff Sir Phillip Bailhache is facing a vote of no confidence in the States.

Deputy Shona Pitman has brought the proposal forward, following what many considered to be an inappropriate speech by Sir Phillip on Liberation Day.

She also says he has poor judgement following his failure to removed convicted paedophile Roger Holland from his role in the Honorary Police in 1992.

The Chief Minister has spoken on behalf of the Council of Ministers saying they would not be supporting the proposal as it would make Jersey look stupid, and was based on thin grounds.

When I heard she had 3 votes I knew instantly who they were without checking.

She was NEVER going to win.

Funny thing is that everybody I have spoken to today said he should have gone

Why do they even bother doing this when they know they will fail? and why do they fail just because Jersey would look stupid if they won? If its the right thing to do for the better of the Island it should be done.

It's the only way to get their views on public record for all time, as speeches are recorded and go into the public archive.
