Deputy Fails To Stop Waterfront Development
Jersey Deputy Gerald Baudains has failed in his attempt to put the Waterfront Development on hold.
He believes members have been misinformed, and is particularly worried about the involvement of the developers Harcourt.
The last time it was debated in the States the deputy revealed the developers were facing a number of legal actions.
At the time the Chief Minister denied the claims. But later on, after he'd checked, he embarrassingly had to apologise to the States and say he was wrong.
Although a number of members still have reservations about the multi million pound scheme which involves constructing an underground road with buildings on top, only nine backed the hold motion. 31 voted in favour of going ahead with the plans.
