Default Will Council Of Ministers Go?

Jersey's States are squaring up for the biggest political battle of the current house.

The Council of Ministers face a vote of no confidence and the Chief Minister a vote of Censure.

It's due, in part, to their handling of the proposed development of the Waterfront and the ongoing poilce investigation into child abuse allegations at Haut de la Garenne.

The day's proceedings:

First Deputy Gerard Baudains will make a move to get the whole waterfront masterplan recinded.

Then, members will discuss Senator Syvret's vote of no confidence in the council

Then there'll be Deputy Geoff Southern's vote of censure against the chief minister.

It's almost interesting enough to listen in, on 1026 AM.
But perhaps not!

Thing is you know nothing will happen to the COM.
It is crazy that they can vote to save themselves.
So add Ministers + Deputy Ministers + well known 'toadies' and you have a wining vote.
Pathetic!

There will be loads of,"Learned from mistakes.......new system teething problems..........these things have to be expected..............blah de blah".
Nothing will change, but "Woe betide", anyone who raises their head above the parapet.

Having read Stuart's blog he knows that he cannot win.
The point, I believe is to force the hand of those who support Walker and his Council Of Clowns.
They will be marked for the election.

I hope this does not prove to be pointless. I find the fact that the people with the vote of no confidence can actually vote against it. Only in Jersey No? Has anyone got any info on how this is going?

Jersey's Council of Ministers have kept their jobs.

Senator Stuart Syvret was trying to get them 'sacked'. But this afternoon his vote of no confidence failed miserably. Just seven others supported Senator Syvret.

The final vote was 8 in favour, 41 against and 2 abstentions.

Many had expected the debate to last all day, But fewer people than anticipated decided to speak.

The no confidence debate is just one of a number of controversial debates facing members.
