Call For Change In Law Of Tenants Rights
Jersey's Citizen's Advice Bureau has dealt with hundreds of cases of landlords withholding deposits from tenants.
The organisation is campaigning for a new law which will make property owners provide written tenancy agreements.
The Housing Minister Terry Le Main says he's waiting to see proof of all the cases where money's been unfairly withheld from tenants, before he makes a decision about amending the law.
"I've had three very serious cases in the last twelve months and the housing department haven't had a lot of complaints about tenancy withholding, but Francis le Gresley from Citizen's Advice is telling us he's had several hundred over, every year. And I've no doubt he is correct," said Senator Le Main
Has anyone had any experience of this happening?
