Whilst we're on the topic of stupidity.....I see another jersey politician has put his foot in his mouth.....

A recent Ben Shenton email has been leaked to the press and appears in a Daily Mail report today...

Daily Mail article says:
"My wife keeps referring to Lenny Harper as Lenny Henry - I don't think she's far wrong," said the health and social services minister in his extraordinary message.

Read the full article, there's more! ....Surely that's a much bigger gaffe than the Walker / Syvret press conference?

That's a bit of a shame seeing as he's done really well until that gaffe. Just goes to show, don't ever put anything in an email that you wouldn't publish in a newspaper!

That's putting it mildly.

IMHO this is far more prejudicial that anything we've seen. I'd be interested to see whether those who are genuinely concerned about seeking justice for the alleged abuse at the end of the day (rather than those who are purely out to bash Walker) are as critical of Shenton, as one thing can be said, the incumbent Chief Minister hasn't so far (from what I've seen) actually risked prejudicing the criminal investigation like Syvret and now Shenton may have. Lets not lose sight of the important job the Police have got to do!

More to the point, if this was in internal email to the other ministers, which scumbag leaked it to the press? Doesn't this just show how the new ministerial system isn't working and how they can't get on?

I think Mr Billy Connolly saud it best with....
"any ******* with a predeliction for becoming a politician should immediately be banned from becoming one!"
and
"don't vote for the ********, it just encourages them!"

Precisely why a monarch, reluctantly born into the job, is better to lead a country than some egomaniac president

Back to the Shenton leak though, and it makes you wonder who could possibly be motivated to show up a fellow minister in this underhand way? Could it be to deflect attention away from themself?

No matter who it was, it's Frank who must shoulder some responsibility. Why? Because the whole idea of having a Chief Minister is that one person carries the can, and must answer to the public for the behaviour of the ministers he leads. Any failing on behalf of the ministers, and Frank is accountable. Either sack the minister responsible or at least let's have an apology.

Yet another own goal, it would seem.

and another thing... how come the press are so selective about what they use? Stuart presents them with evidence, nothing happens.
Someone leaks a private email, great... let's damage Ben's reputation!

All the accusations of bringing the island into disrepute.. and the press are adding to it by making it obvious the ministers aren't exactly working well together!!

Thats rather a skewed view. At the end of the day, all Shenton needed to do was sit back and led the investigation run its course. Why he thought it prudent to commit his personal point of view to writing and sent it out is beyond reason. How on earth can Frank be accountable for what Shenton's wife thinks

You can't critisise Walker for expressing a personal comment which was recorded without his knowledge and then broadcast, and then seek to have it both ways when another minister does tantamount to the same.

And I thought Shenton had apologised anyway....... oh yes, and didn't Syvret get sacked?
