Question Sales in Jersey?

Good evening, I'm new to this forum, my name is Romain, I'm French and live in St Malo, thus not far... I've visited the beautiful isle of Jersey twice since I moved to Saint Malo, and I must say I love it. Such a change of scenery, an hour away from home! And it is positively lovely. I'm planning on visiting Guernsey as well, although I haven't figured out when...

Anywho, I was planning another week-end trip with some friends of mine. I now know the tourist spots and attractions, I've become quite the tour guide myself, my too small experience notwithstanding, but I would like to take my friends shopping as well.

We will be arriving on Saturday the 23rd and leaving on Sunday. My question is: are there any sales in shops about that time? I've heard of January sales in the UK, but I wonder if they are as organized (and lengthy) as they are in France, and even if you do have particular sales in January in Jersey?

And if you do, will they still be any good by that time?

Anyway, thank you very much for your answers.

Romain.

PS: if I have posted in the wrong section, could an admin please move this thread where it belongs? Thanks.

PPS: Oooh, and I meant to ask as well: any good curry houses in St Helier? Perhaps some with an all you can eat buffet formula? Gotta cure those curry cravings!

Hi Romain! Not sure about sales (will ask the mrs), but don't expect much to be open on the Sunday - virtually everything is generally shut!

I like Jaipur on the Esplanade for a good curry - sure you will get lots of conflicting answers though!

Hi Romain,
My Friends go to a place called "Viceroy Indian Restaraunt" 76 Bath street, St Helier.
Tel No: 876984 it's oposite the end of Belmont road and they get really hot curries there, havent tried it myself as not into corma stuff P.S. you need a glass of water with it to put out the flames :-)

Salut Romain,

Jersey curry houses :
Jersey - Restaurants

I like Cafe Spice, but my friend the vegetarian swears by the Indian Ocean. I've never had a bad curry over here, but it helps to know what to order.

Have a good trip!

Thank you very much for your kind answers, will try some of the curry houses, especially the spicy ones, I'm not much for Korma myself either...

About the sale, I'm guessing you don't know any more than I do... I've contacted the Voisins customers service, and they told me their sale period will last till the end of January, I'm guessing it's the same in other shops... So we might be able to get a few bargains before we leave! We'll do the shopping on Saturday morning, and the visiting on the afternoon and Sunday... Pretty tightly packed Week-End if you ask me!

Thanks again!

Unless I'm very much mistaken, over here the shops don't really publicise details of sales far in advance or say how long they will last for - so we can't really help you on that point.

Bon voyage
