Oil prices have a lot to do with the production of anything and everything we eat or use.

wheat and rice prices are continuing to spiral due to emerging nations such as china wanting and using more and more...

i know how the pricing structure works as i work as part of the team that sets it.

has anyone actually thought of asking whether or not we are cheating the customer...eh, no you have just assumed!

i have to pay GST just as every other jersey resident has to....and if i thought the company i worked for were taking the p*ss i wouldn't be happy either.
The fact is Haggis that every food retailer in jersey has been taking the piss for years, How can a Tax Free island be so expensive and don't try and blame haulage expenses etc: because you'll start sounding like Tom Scott.

Isn't it a fact that all your prices based on the percentage added after GST always get rounded up the way and never down as they are fixed to always be above .5 after GST. I wait with interest to here your excuse for that.

Bundy....you should know the rules on rounding up and down.

For Example -
£1.29 + 3% = £1.3287 (This would be rounded up to £1.33)
£1.39 + 3% = £1.4317 (This would be rounded down to £1.43)

This is something we all learned at school - my point was that the coop are not out to rip anyone off, and it was not us that foisted this tax on anyone!

The fact is the items that are £1.29 and £1.39 are overpriced before the GST, Judge them against retail prices in the UK, deduct tax, add haulage, then co-op profit, then GST and its a joke price in comparison. Its not only the co-op though its all the major retailers so don't get your knickers in a twist thinking i'm only berating your company...your all as bad as each other...........in fact feck yous i'm going on hunger strike and not paying the prices anymore

I see in the paper they are saying GST may stay at the 3% as States spending has been reduced. They just don’t get it do they, we don’t want GST at all. I don’t see trading standards being brought in to make sure everyone takes the 17% VAT off the goods it applies too. If they want to charge us GST they should make sure we are not getting charged VAT.
