Default Sea fishing boat or shore

Nice to see the diversity of this forum. I haven't managed to locate a sea fishing thread in the sporting section so thought I might add one.

I am a keen angler more so from the boat rather than shore although I do fish from the shore occasionally. I would be interested in listening or reading about any fishy tails, good catches, unusual catches, you know the sort of thing.

You will pay around £50 each for a day trip. I go with this guy quite a lot. Channel Island Bass Fishing Trips

It seems everybody is saying the same about the lack off Bass. The "gutters" between the Demi and Seymour are usually a good bet but although the odd large one has been pulled out of there this year they are pretty thin on the ground as yet.

I heard it was about £60 to go out on a charter boat now. The way the fuel price is soaring and GST I can only summise the prices will carry on going up until only the rich can enjoy such a luxury of a days boat fishing.

I have been reliably informed the Bass should be showing up in numbers after the next big tide, shall wait and see.

There's plenty of Tope and Bream about at the minute so something to keep busy with until the bass turn up. Tope are an extremely exciting fish to catch and dare I say it probably the most exciting fish we have in our waters.

I fish from the boat all the time. I have not had one bass this year yet. I have heard about a few caught from the harbour recently. As stated before the gutters are your best bet, around Corbier lighthouse can be good.

Great, a fishing topic, i spend a lot of weekend fishing all over the Island. I seen a boy land a bass around 7lbs last Sat in a little spot near St Quen. I hope to post a story of myself catching one this coming weekend.

Neap tides this weekend, not ideal for the Bass. I'll be going for the tope. How was the 7lb Bass caught? on a plug? or bait?

Green Street on the reclaimed land is not a bad place for the Bass on a plug. I've had them up to 4lb off there and have seen up to 7 or 8lb being caught.

Default Storm bound!

They say a weather forecaster is the only person who can get everything wrong every day and still keep his job.

The forecast has been swapping and changing so much in the last couple of days, it has been impossible to get together a game-plan and be able to stick to it.

I now find myself storm bound as a westerly force 4 is a little too uncomforatble to be going out in. I was hoping to be going a few miles west of Corbiere for some Bream and Tope or even a few mackerel for my tea but alas it is not to be. Maybe next weekend.

Has anybody been fishing this weekend? caught anything? I've heard mackerel have been getting caught from the shore with relative ease. From the boat out of the South coast I have found them pretty thin on the ground.
