Default Jurgen Klinsmann set for Anfield??

Jurgen Klinsmann has been named as the frontrunner to replace Rafa Benitez if the Spaniard is dismissed at Liverpool.

According to the paper's, the American owners see the German as an ideal choice should they finally run out of patience with Benitez over what is being viewed as more agitating by the former Valencia coach.

'Although the widely reported quotes about his misgivings were not attributed to him, the manager's attempts to distance himself from them have been called into question in Anfield circles.'

Owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are due to meet chief executive Rick Parry in New York this week to discuss the situation at the club with Benitez's future bound to be on the agenda as well.

'Gillett is believed to be a fervent admirer of the former Germany striker, who has taken a break from football at his home in Newport Beach, near Los Angeles, since quitting as his country's national coach in the wake of a successful World Cup campaign 18 months ago.'

Well, relatively successful. True, Germany confounded pessimistic expectations, but it's worth reiterating that they did enjoy the benefits of home advantage and, having beaten Costa Rica, Poland and Ecuador in the first round, their most impressive win, against Argentina, was only achieved via a penalty shoot-out. Klinsmann's stint with Germany is also his sole managerial experience.

With Jose Mourinho reputedly interested in becoming the next Liverpool boss should Benitez be ousted. However, Mourinho is now thought to be waiting on an offer from Barcelona to replace Frank Rijkaard.

Bayern Munich have just said that Klinsmann will be taking over them from next season.

Big Sam for Liverpool

Is it right that Liverpool should think about changing the manager? won the European cup, got to another final, that's what they brought him in for and he has delivered

Tom Hicks today admitted the club's owners held a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann over the possibility of becoming the next manager of Liverpool - but that Rafa Benitez can now count on the full backing of both chairmen.

There will be uproar at Anfield should they sack him.
The fans want the two yanks out !!
They are still denying that they are about to sell the club to the Dubia Investment Capital (DIC) but a very good reporter who knows the club inside and out has reported this morning that a deal will be done this week.
I'd imagine that Rafa Benitez knows about this (hence the reason why he hasn't resigned after the revelations that they talked to another manager about replacing him.)
