Default Tennerfest

Most of the offers at Tennerfest are going for anything but ten pounds.

The tennerfest menus are set at £10, £12.50, £15 and £17.50. It's the Channel Islands' most successful food promotion, but in its 11th year the prices are getting further and further away from "a tenner".

There are 181 restaurants taking part in this year's tennerfest across the Channel Islands. Less than a third of them are offering any form of a ten pound menu and only 25 are serving up three courses for a tenner.

The original purpose of tennerfest was two fold, the cheaper menus would entice Islanders to try places they wouldn't normally go to and this would also boost business outside of season. Top end restaurants say the charging £17.50 is necessary.

But those who do offer ten pound deals disagree.

They could just say there's a TEN percent (or more) discount on normal prices....

It was never going to be able to be 10 quid a meal forever, with inflation, was it? If 10 quid 11 years ago is now worth 14 or 15, then I don't see it's all that bad, really.

Has it ever been a tenner though?.. I don't remember many restaurants have a £10 menu.

I could be wrong, i did go to a few including Nelsons Eye and that was about £17 when it first started.

I have been to a few of the 'tennerfests' lately and even though they are not a tenner we have still had some dam good meals.

My main gripe is the price of drink. One of the restaurants did not have a bottle of wine for less than £15.00 on the list.

If they would have called it October Fest or something similar no one would argue with it, I too have had some great meals on the tennerfest but unfortunately nowhere near £10. I agree with Jason the wine charges are ridiculous.

Irrespective of it now being 'Fifteen quid fest' (less catchy) its a great promotion and the kind of thing everyone should support in my opinion rather than griping. I've had a couple of tennerfest outings this year and they've all been great value to be honest.

This old chestnut has reared its head for about the year 5 years on the bounce. A tenner doesn't go nearly as far as it did in '97 so its pretty unrealistic to expect everyone to adhere to it year on year.

A Big Mac, Fries and a Mcflurry probably isn't much short of a tenner now. The milkshakes cost less than the wine though, although they'll probably make you feel worse in the morning...

Went to the museum for the tenner fest it was crap no veg or spuds. Never seen so little portions of food especially the chicken, seen more meat on my own thighs (and they are not that big) .I not saying all of the restaurant's are like this but this one was not value for money, then what is now days
