Default Laws on anonymity

I see the 26 year-old Latvian has been cleared of sexual assault and rape.

This is a serious point, perhaps driven from by the fact I'm a guy, but the laws on anonymity should be changed

How can a woman accuse a man of a serious crime and retain her anonymity, whilst the guy's identity and life is plastered across the papers and Channel TV?

Surely, in a democracy where everybody is innocent until proven guilty the man's identity should be protected as well!

Even though he has been cleared, mud sticks
Basically, a woman can ruin a bloke's life and reputation simply by accusing him

I've had experience with a couple of similar situations in Jersey my friend and what I can tell you sadly is that the truth counts for very little and that anonymity only seems to work one way. Do you think it's likely that the woman in question will face charges for making a false complaint? It seems unlikely but even in cases where it is proven that the woman's story is false she is hardly ever prosecuted. Apparently that would make women who really have been victims more reluctant to come forward... as if other women lying about it doesn't.
