Why are we still paying through the nose for broadband? Why is it that we have a number of choices of ISP but they've all settled at the same price point, around £17 per month? Yet the UK has options for half that
With Spain and Finland codifying 'The Right to Broadband' (
PC Magazine article ) I think it's about time that we had a reasonably priced option over here.
They're even denying us the right to previously free information by stopping the local Teletext service! I think that a rudimentary
(Crippled speed like dial-up? A fixed delay per webpage?) connection should be available for free for everyone, for public information and email, and slow surfing. For everything else, it's fair enough to pay.
Otherwise we're getting a "digital divide" where people who find £200pa way too much are getting left behind and are missing out
(typical for Jersey - stuff the poor!).
