I expect to see a change sometime after the euro reaches parity with the pound. Once the pound=the euro then there's no problem as they are both metric measures of money now. If Britain is in the EU it is logical for it to adopt the euro but those in charge know that to change over when it is worth more than the Euro is not a smart more. Once it has been allowed to drop to parity it will be easier to sell to the good old British public. As Britain does a lot of trade with Europe now compared to the old days of the Commonwealth, I would expect the CBI to press for it to make it easier for British companies to do business in Europe.

Jersey obviously could keep the pound but would be silly to if GB changes over. Maybe our leaders should consider this when they strive for independence? Maybe not?

This has been brought up before and at one time there was discussion of adopting the Dollar. I would imagine this is something we would only do if the Bank of England took the lead, and as the UK is already fed up with some EU principles it won't be top of the agenda for some time.

I have to say that when 1 euro=1 pound that would be it for me.

The local government can't decide what time zone we should be in, probably because most of them are stuck in the last century. There's no chance they'll make a monumental decision such as this. They'll have to be led by the nose by the UK and claim the glory, albeit hollow, for being decisive - yeah right !

All they are good for is allocating publicly funded parking spaces to their own kind !

Todays rates:-
1 GBP = 1.1660 EUR
0.8576 GBP = 1 EUR

Getting closer than ever.

There is no way Jersey will stick with the pound on its own. It would be financial suicide.

Funny how we seem to be unaffected though. When I speak to people in the UK they talk about another world.
