Default Air Display - Sept 11th '08

The Air Display's looking good, should be interesting to see how the French team Patrouille de France compares to the Reds.

Sadly the Vulcan bomber is out of action at the moment, let's pray they get it up and running in time for us.

I also hope they sort out the traffic and parking arrangements - in 2006 it was so annoying that I avoided the display altogether last year. Just let us drive onto the avenue from each end like we used to be able to, FFS, instead of having to queue to First Tower and enter from there. Pointless to add display-goers traffic to the already jammed up roads.

Are the Red Arrows not performing this year? I watched something on the tv the other week, someone was saying if we letf the Red Arrows were left out we may not get them back.

The RAF contigent seems to decreaes every year, no more tornado or jaguar - not even a harrier this year! No Helicopter display team either, although the Red Arrows are in....
Looks like there might be a B52 too, although there's always rumours.

Last year wasn't bad - the Rapide beach landing was quite something!

Still missing the best by far though - the catalina sea landing.

I'm finding it hard to imagine it being a nice sunny one like the last few.

I heard the organiser moaning about costs on the radio - why not scale it down a bit then, rather than come out with the doom and gloom scares about having to cancel? Instead of a 4 or 5 hour tedium of endless boring little propellor jobbies going backwards and forwards a dozen times, why not condense it down to just an hour or two with fewer planes - concentrating on the good stuff like 'warbirds', display teams and fast jets?

I would say yes....what the **** else is there to come to jersey for...the overpriced flights, hotels, rip off shops (VAT free my big fat behind!)??????

The Battle mibbies...as that appears to be the only community orientated thing in Jersey just now.....

I suppose we could market the free for all that is Liberation Square as a zoologocal viewing ground of specific interest we could even get it linked to Durrell..."Come to Jersey and watch ****sapiens at their most basic and feral, watch in wonder & awe as Mckenzie & Gio Goi clad f*nnies (latin: Jerseyus Fifteen-to-Seventeen Year Old D*ckheadus) beat the sh*t out of each other and tourists alike!"

We could charge a fiver a pop...still be cheaper than the Jersey Shiner..oops sorry, Eye!
