Default Channel Island Taxis

In today’s JEP I see they are launching an investigation into taxi fares, about time too in my opinion. I got a taxi from Gorey into town and it cost nearly £40, the taxi metre was on A1 and this was early afternoon on a week day. Does anyone know what tariff it should have been? And does anyone know what all the tariffs should be at different times? This is something the public need to know now.

Taxi's ARE extortionate in Jersey.....regularly pay £20-25 to get home on a Saturday night....the same journey in scotland would be £7-10....

I know it's more expensive to live in this island...but, bl**dy hell!

I have often wondered about taxi prices in Jersey, does anyone know if there is a website that explains the prices, I’m sure holiday makers must be getting ripped off big time.

I think some taxi drivers just rip you off on purpose, if you question it they would just say sorry about that i thought i had it on the right tariff, how many people would question it? holiday makers wouldn't. It's time we had the prices and time changes visable to the public, they should have them on a poster at the airport.

Jersey Taxis Come 17Th in the list of most expensive,
London Being Top In this weeks Taxi Paper,
I saw it from a Luxicab Driver.
I was Definitely not in his Cab lol
It is About £20 Taxi Fare now with new increases to Airport to get the Red Eye from St Helier.
Why can't they run a bus early enough to reach the Airport in time to catch it with enough time left to book in ?
Talking about Buses I have never seen a major Town or City without a bus service. Do we have a "Whole Town Service"

Jersey Taxis come 17th? I'm sure that may be right, but what gets me is we dont know how the tariffs work, does anyone? Im sure this happens all over the UK. If i get into a taxi, lets say from town to the airport, there is set tariffs that all taxi drives must go by but alot of taxi drivers just rip us off that way. Lets say the tariff is B2 during the day and A1 after midnight, whats to stop a taxi driver using A1 all the time? I dont know what it should be or what time it should change or to what. Can any enlighten us please.

I was told the tarrif is charged in metres.
If you ask you will be told.
After your hire charge of course.
I don't think you have to worry about getting overcharged as it is very much controlled.
They even know which driver has had the best Job Daily I/E from Gorey To St Ouen "Arm & A Leg" lol

I would say we are more expensive than London when it comes to taxies. I work in London quite a lot and dont find them that bad unless you look like a tourist. Jersey has always been expensive, its time it got looked at.
