Default Fort Regent

Looking in tonights paper i see they are thinking about turning the old Fort Regent swimming pool into a Community Centre. Is this a good idea? i think it is, it will give the kids somewhere to go. With such a large place it may also bring gangs of kids together which may not be such a good idea.

It would be nice to see the view again from the High Dive bar

Shame it's not a swimming pool any more! Shame the fort is not used as it used to be any more! but if it is used it has to be good.

Default Yet another hair brained scheme !

Isn't it supposed to be turned into a place of worship. I thought the old church crowds were on the decline !

Do we really need another church !

Doesn't bother me if they use it to tell God how wonderful He is - better than letting it rot away completely and be replaced by something worse. It should be an historic Napoleonic Fort's glacis field, not built upon.

I'm more concerned about the Abundant Life mob moving away from their current base at Wolf's Caves. That presumably will lead to that site being redeveloped, good bye parking space for a cliff walk - and will the path remain? And will we ever get access down to the caves again - currently barricaded off?

I prefered Jersey in the 80s.

Oooh another good topic!
As a Jersey lad I lived at the Fort like many, parents brought membership scheme, not cheap then, but it was worth it and well used.

Why can't they put the rides back, swimming pool, employ aload of staff and give the children of today somewhere that they can go feel safe and have good time.

Gangs get together anywhere ... teens will be teens ... but parents knew we were safe and happy!

And bring back the cable cars, I loved them, along with the arcades, what really is there for our children to do apart from hang around no wonder they are getting into trouble.
