Default St Brelades Bay

I was lucky to have this week off and wot a scorcher it has been. So for a change we thought we'd spend it on St Brelades beach.

It has been great. The deckchairs were reasonably priced. An endless supply of lager shandies from Tams Bar. Delicious ice creams and the odd pizza from Pizza Express.

My only complaint is ability to purchase takeaway food. We arrived about 12 o'clock on Monday and thought we'd try the new Jersey Potteries place. The restaurant is only open 12 - 2:30pm and 6 - 9pm, which I thought a little restrictive, but it get better than that. As we were only looking for a sandwich etc..., we thought we'd try their cafe. On this occasion, all they had left were two or three pre-made sandwiches. I did ask if any of the sandwiches, ciabatta or paninis were available to takeaway, only to be told no, not really and we couldn't really charge £7.00 for a takeaway sandwich - Don't worry we wouldn't pay it !

They did say their fish and chips in a box are very popular - well they would be, because that's the only takeaway food you do ! I did say I don't really like fish, which the guy behind the counter informed me "I was in the wrong place then !"

So we tried Midbay Cafe, where we were told we could choose sandwiches off the menu but we'd have to queue with all the sit down customers, it was very busy and they couldn't estimate how long we would have to wait.

So the search went on. Next we tried Wayside Cafe - it was absolutely mobbed ! But we have eaten there before and the food is pretty good. But like the rest it doesn't really offer takeaway food. We could order off the menu, queue with sit down customers and pay sit down price - £6.00 for a BLT !

By this time we'd been away from our stuff for almost an hour and I was getting a little twitchy about leaving it so long, so I sent the wife back, whilst I waited for our food.

We learnt by experiences and either brought food from home or bought salad boxes from our favourite place in town.

We did treat ourselves to pizza, sat on the beach and watched the sun disappear behind trees. Which I have to say was excellent.

But I find in bizaare that it's almost impossible to buy a burger and chips, a panini or something like that, to take away and sit on the beach.

So if you plan to venture down there - go prepared !

What I want to know is how do the Potteries get to take over part of the beach for a cricket league and they also advertise kids parties on the beach.
Do they pay for this
