Default New Scam

A new scam is going around Jersey

You may receive a letter stating they are foreign investors with property in America

The letter will ask you for bank details, statements and also credit card details. The say they are from the Internal Revenue Service - United States Department of the Treasury

Put this straight in the bin and do not contact them, this is a scam.

I have a friend who received one of these letters and luckily enough she checked the validity of it.

It always amazes me how intelligent people fall for such obvious cons

There is another bunch of scamsters you must be extremely aware of.

Some even have to ordacity to turn up at your front door and try to pass themselves off as wanting to be your "REPRESENENTATIVE" in the States.

Some of them go under the guise of a Deputy candidate, some of Connetable and the others as Senators.

Beware of these people, most but not all, are complete fraudsters they make you promises and tell you everything you like to hear. If they are fortunate enough to win enough people over they get voted in to the position.

Once that happens they disappear, never again darken your doorstep, there e-mail loses the reply button and there phone only ever rings but loses the ability to connect with the caller.

You are unable to make contact with these people again, as they appear to be taken over by an alter ego. One that breaks all the promises the other one told you on your doorstep and does the complete opposite to what you might want him/her to do when voting!!

So be very weary of who you let in your house, some of them will have a "voting record" check this out as their crucentials to decide if they are a fraudster or not.

Another scan going around, if you get a letter saying you have won lots of money on a lottery system, do not reply or phone the number. The give away is you have never entered the lottery but you never know, some people may reply.

I think most people i know got one of these letters through the post. It had a phone number in Spain to phone. A friend did phone the number just to see what was said, a Spanish man was trying to convince him he had won the money even though he had never entered the lottery. A few choice words latter the Spanish man hung up.
