I have decided to leave Jersey & go back to the UK.

I didn't think I would ever get so disillusioned with Jersey life, that returning to England seemed a more viable and appealing proposition.

Sad really, but this place is not the same anymore.

Best wishes to you all

Just a quick update - I leave Jersey on Monday 30th June.

I've been amazed at the reaction of all my friends though.
Nobody has suggested I'm doing the wrong thing, in fact many have joked about wishing they could join me.

One of my best friends has been in Jersey for 28 years. He's here to stay, but he hopes his 2 kids have the good sense to leave before it's too late!

Is this really how people feel about Jersey these days?

I have been in Jersey for over 20 years now, i know what you mean, most people would love to leave now. The Island has died, Tourism is at an all time low. People over the years have not minded paying out more than the UK for most things as the wages over here used to be good. A lot of companys now have adopted the UK mentality and wages are now going backwards, prices are not and together with the dreaded GST its the last strw for many.

Is this what the Government want though? drive people away to help the housing situation and various other things.

If it wasn't for family here, I'd love to be allowed into New Zealand...

New Zealand would be a wonderfull place to live. A lot of people in Jersey will soon struggle to cope with the way prices are going. This as we have seen in the UK will turn people to crime to make money. Do we want Jersey to turn into that?

I would never live in the UK.

Sorry but its way worse than Jersey in ALL respects.

France? maybe, but working is very difficult.

NZ? yes, and both me and the Mrs qualify. I have spent alot of time there.

Time will tell.
