Personally, I think the wheel is good idea and maybe if WEB had pulled their fingers out there might be something to look at besides a building site.

It's "attractions" such as this that will draw people to the Waterfront. I also believe there should be a permenant skating rink, it doesn't have to be Ice, does anyone remember the Fort Regent Rink ? I spent most of my teenage Friday nights up there - ah good times !

There should also be some kind of amusement arcade, much like the old Funland, or even like this place; Fantasy Island - Britain's First Themed Indoor Family Resort and Amusement Park It doesn't have to be on such a scale. Our kids used to love to go there and because it was almost entirely enclosed, it didn't matter if it rained.

It's great having all these so-called "low cost" airlines flying to Jersey, but what is there to do when average 2.4 person family gets here when it's lashing down with rain, which it seems to have done since last year !

Yes, I know the "old beans" think it would be lowering the tone of the Island making it into a tacky seaside town, but these places are mobbed during the holidays and at weekends.

IMHO

The area is crying out for a kids playground too - swings, roundabout, slides etc.
I remember as a kid going to France and their beaches always seemed to have brilliant swings and slides (that I never got to go on!) - I thought it was great then.. and I still do. My kids would love it.
I know Jersey's tidal range and sea walls make permanent stuctures impossible on our beaches (nothing stays dry all the time), but putting something nearby on the land (like at Longbeach) ought to be more commonplace.
Stuff all that "trim trail" nonsense and the waste of money plans for ruining a little bit of People's Park with adult gym equipment, think of the kids for once! Yes the little ones love running around the water jets at the fountain at Les Jardins de la Mer, but there's nothing there for the bigger kids or for cooler weather.

As for Funland, yes it's terrible that it burned away and was never replaced. I'm amazed that there isn't a bowling alley and amusements alongside the cinema multiplex and fast food outlets. Surely it wouldn't hurt to have a little corner of the island that would be a little more Blackpool-esque... seaside amusements and fish-n-chips for those who like that sort of thing? Why does it all have to be pretentious wine bars for the well-to-do old farts? There are still some families here (local AND visitors) that might like that....

Yep, the bowling alley is a great call and bring back the trampolines, go-kart track and a skate park. They don't have be huge.

They give the kids these facilities and just as they get used to having em they take em away again. The Island seems to be a constant state of flux, but doesn't seem to acheive anything.

Look at the £1m they wasted on the so-called road improvements, only to give something that was adequate already and another thing about those road improvements, how many people do you actually see walking along those pavements, so why are the so f***ing wide, make them a little narrower and you could have added a 3rd lane into town ! Sorry went off topic a little. Rant over !

I wonder if you could hire a pod on Battle of Britian Day ? - That would be cracking, a bottle of bubbly and cu***ber sarnies !

I bet that "Mr Higgins" wouldn't say "no" if they offered him a freebie !

But I reckon they'll close it for the day for Health & Safety reasons !

Does anyone know how this is going? It does not look very busy at all.
