Default £100,0000 Tickets go on sale

I got a shock when walking past Llyods TSB in broad street this morning, There was a Q that went past the Nat West, I thought oh no not another Nothern Rock and here in Jersey! but no it was the launch of the million pound lottery! £300.00 for 1 ticket, surley if you can afford the ticket by yourself you don't need the money! get 10 of you in £30.00 must be a better deal, and you could still win a cool £100000.00, ok bring it on!

Yup, I'm in a syndicate of 10... can't imagine winning but it's in a good cause which I can justify as my "I donate to charity instead" reason for not sending Christmas cards, hehe

I wonder how the odds compare with spending 300 on the UK lottery though? Winning would be less likely but the prize is bigger...?

Yes this is for a good cause, I applied via email after last years and got an email through the other day saying I have to collect my ticket / tickets before next Wednesday. If anyone would like to go into a syndicate let me know. 10 people would be good but need the cash before next Wed.

uk lottery odds are 14 million to one! therefor that is 46666.66 to 1 if you buy 300 tickets.

so the UK lottery is only 7.7 times less likely for a win, but the prize may be several millions. Not exactly a massive difference then... apart from the good causes bit (not all of the UK one goes to charridee).

That makes the odds in the same order of magnitude... yet the same people who scoff at the "hit by lightning" likelihood of winning the UK one happily join in with this local one!

At least this is for a good cause in the Channel Islands. I justb hope they do not try and do something on a regular basis, that would spoil it, we do need the Uk Lottery though, i hear it will be 2 years away, anyone else know more details?
