With the 'disks' fiasco in the UK does anyone know what the Channel Islands are doing about UK ID Cards? It seems hardly credible that, with the UK losing citizens data all over the place, we could be forced into carrying UK ID Cards. Equally, will residents details be entered on to the National Identity Register?

Does anyone know what the position is here?

From the snatches of information that have appeared in the local press over the last year or so it seems they want to introduce them, but thankfully the Data Protection people have issues with it.

I like the data protection act, how else can we get away with speeding,parking and the London congestion charges!

I hope we dont get them, every time we go out we will end up in one queue or another showing our id to someone.
