Default Radisson Waterfront Hotel Opens

THE new 195-bed £55 million Radisson SAS hotel on the waterfront opened its doors to guests today.

The hotel, which is expected to be given a four-star rating, is aimed primarily at the business traveller market.

It is the first major hotel to be purpose-built in the Island in decades - and the most expensive. Radisson say that it is the 'best sited' of the 400 in the group worldwide.

The hotel has a footprint of 200,000 sq ft and features three restaurants, including one that can cater for 400 people.

There are four bars as well as a spa, treatment rooms, gymnasium and a conference centre. The £250,000 kitchens can cater for 800 people at a time and were hailed by Radisson's senior executuve chef as the best he had ever seen.

About 110 staff were ready to greet the first guests after the official opening at 10.30 am.
