Default Should Jersey go it alone?

Should Jersey go it alone?

I seen this in one of the local media sites.

With more regulations being forced on the island and seemingly less control over our destiny, some believe the island should become fully independent.

But as the debate gains momentum what would it really mean for us? Do the pro's outweigh the cons?

What is your views on this?

Absolutely no way! If our States can't co-exist with Westminster then you have to seriously question why not.

If the local clowns had full power without being held in check by HM govt, then it would be definitely time to flee the island for somewhere decent.

I have to ask why are those running the island keen on this?
Maybe our establishment spokesman could answer this for us?

Is it time for another (largely irrelevant) referendum?

It would have to be "referended" and I can't imagine the public going for it, unless the "ollies" pour an enormous amount of money into spin or engineer a situation where we're all really angry at the UK for some avoidable reason.

Surely it won't do us any good?

All I can imagine would happen is that the UK would withdraw any and all "benefits" which apply to Jersey - e.g. small value VAT exemption on goods sent to the UK, NR taxpayer schemes (e.g. NR landlord) etc.

No chance one bust bank would bust Jersey where would we be then? Jersey has shown over this last year it is unable to run itself without outside help.
