I heard on yesterday's "after-news net" that the local hams are looking into getting the old repeater up and running again. Possible sites include the Westmount and Five Oaks masts.
It will probably be GB3GJ again, but 145.650 may no longer be available after all this time, so it remains to be seen where it will end up (if at all). Lots of expensive hurdles to leap before it comes back.

I think the 70cm idea would be a waste of time even if it was the very top of the mast twice as high as used to be

strange why the new 75ft mast hasent been erected yet?
it was supposed to be supplied over a year ago by a certain mobile phone operator
and would house their equipments.
but the guy in charge of the site died unexpectedly (Andy Brandie) R.I.P.
and the building has started to subside showing some nasty cracks inside!
