I’m not to sure what the coverage is on the read up it says 28 Megs – 29 Meg, I have been told it covers 25 Meg – 30 Meg am fm ssb. 150 watts output on ssb and 50-60 on am, fm.

I do like some of the other features it has. When it arrives I shall let you know a little more. Truck King has also talked me into getting a Sirio 4500 antenna to use with it.

I imagine you could set off a few burglar alarms if you drive around town with that amount of power, as a mate of mine used to with a ligit 100watt 2meter rig in his car :-)
do you have to have a radio amatuer licence to operate it? im sure it wouldent be legal but who cares if you can get away with it, as Offcom dosent have anyone monitering over here
they just try to con gen public to get TV licences by pretending they have detector vans
in reality they just have computer databases with all the folks on it that havent bought one :-)
flat screen tv's dont radiate like the old ones did with crt's

I wouldn't be so sure. In the last year or so the major States sites (like Gorey, Fort Regent etc) have sprouted direction finding arrays of four chunkey black verticals for doppler DF. Looks like wideband monitoring / tracing to me.

As far as I’m aware it is totally illegal to operate on most of them frequencies but it is legal to listen to them, please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m sure i could still operate the legal bands even with this radio?

i dont think it is illegal to listen to anything, afterall who is gonna know your there. if that radio covers 25 to 30 mhz you will cover the legal channels on 27 mhz

@ Paul,
i dont think you will have any probs using your gear if its mobile,
but as long as you steer clear of sites like les platons radar
station as it could affect aircraft safety.

It's very nice to have a new box to play with,
p.s. remember to ajust your antenna SWR
before you blow your Transmitter Outputs
i've seen a lot of cooked ones from the past
CB days
