Trouble is, a lot of places have held back on putting prices up (because of the hassle of re-pricing) until GST came in - so it looks like they're hiking prices up to take advantage of GST.. when in fact the prices would have gone up anyway. It's their own fault if it backfires on them when customers complain!
I said months ago to my workmates that price hikes wouldn't happen in this day and age because we're all monitoring prices and it would be so obvious that no-one would dare. Looks like I was half wrong, in a way - at least that's what my fellow workers seem to think
