SHY FX
Andre Williams, AKA Shy FX, first catapulted in to the public’s consciousness with his seminal 1994 jungle anthem ‘Original Nuttah’ (S.O.U.R) with UK Apache. As a true innovator of the, then, new underground British sound, Shy FX helped form and shape the drum ‘n bass scene, alongside names like Goldie, Grooverider, Roni Size & Dillinja. The north Londoner has been continually proving himself a mastermind at fusing underground cool with commercial success ever since.

Whether it’s his international DJ career, countless drum n bass club hits or infectious top 40 chart smashes -‘Shake Ur Body’ (EMI), ‘Don’t Wanna Know’ (Warners), ‘Feelin U’ (Warners)- Shy FX has led the way in terms of popular, credible British music.

Shy FX was just 16-years-young when his UK Apache-featuring, ragga-infused ‘Original Nuttah’ hit wormed its way out of underground jungle raves and on to primetime radio waves. The track remains a sure-fire floor-filler across clubs worldwide and still the most-requested drum n bass tune to this day. Since its incarnation, Shy has gone on to tear up international dance floors with his slick DJ skills and share studio space with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Elephant Man and Kano.

More recently the polite producer/DJ - nicknamed Shy at school- has been working on his highly anticipated, second solo album, as yet untitled.

Respected by his peers for his down-to-earth persona and hard-working attitude, Shy FX is, thankfully, one music industry figure you won’t find bragging about his achievements. Whether it’s discussing the historical drum n bass label Ebony and Ivory he set up in his teens with its notable release ‘Bambaata’, his current-day, groundbreaking label Digital Soundboy, his critically-applauded albums with long-term collaborator T-Power; ‘Set It Off’ (Warners 2002) and ‘Diary Of A Digital Soundboy’ (DSB 2005) or his ever-popular Digital Soundboy Podcasts on iTunes, Shy FX remains humble. And when it comes to drum n bass, he stays loyal.

13 years deep in to his career, Shy FX continues to ignite dance floors from Israel to Cuba, Japan, Russia, America and beyond with his eclectic, soulful, jazz-infused jungle, hip hop and dance. As his hit-making talents are properly recognised on an international level, Shy FX is most definitely one name not going anywhere for the long haul.

MC SPYDA AKA BLACK TARANTULA

WORKED WITH SO MANY OF THE TOP ARTIST..
PENDULUM / SHY FX / BENNY PAGE / MATRIX AND FUTURE BOUND / AQUASKY AND MANY MANY MORE
Originally known as $pyda Don out of Nottingham, he started out as a reggae dancehall DJ on the UK midlands reggae sound system circuit in the mid to late 80’s, he quickly established himself as a solid performer on sounds like Supertone, Quantrotone, Black Star & then ultimately joining the popular Notts based sound V.Rocket where he worked with a whole host of UK based Jamaican dancehall artists of that era. In 1987 $pyda decided to take a trip to Antigua to visit his parents and subsequently recorded 2 tracks produced by Corporal Montana for African Treasure, the first was ”Antigua got the best sunshine” which was a hit on the island, he then went onto record ”African Girl”with singer Caution as a follow up. He next ventured to Jamaica, utilising his links to King Jammys through his association with V.Rocket & Mike Phipps, he visited Jammys studio in Waterhouse, Kingston. This resulted in three tracks being recorded...... ”Kickin up a dust” ”Love and Unity” & ” Nah bless you”....... Returning to the UK in 1990 to a very static dancehall scene that hadn’t really progressed much since his departure, $pyda decided it was time for a change and diversed into the underground Hiphop and R&B circuit trying to integrate his vocal talents into some different styles of music, this brought about an enhancement of new flavour to his work on the mic. Around 93-94 he embeded himself further into the cutting edge of UK underground dance music and began to MC over what was then known as Jungle. His vocals worked perfectly with this style of music, owing to the fact that Jungle had a very heavy ragga influence at that time. Linking up with MC Bassman from Birmingham was a point when his career rose up to a new level in the UK. Working together they developed some popular freestyle routines on stage alongside MC Trigger from Manchester, this combination of MC’s soon began to get a strong following which in turn earned them respect and regular work at promotions and clubs up and down the country, such as:- Pandamonium, Telepathy, Rage, Hacienda, Dark House, Jungle Slammer, Detonate, Gamma Funk, Sidewinder, Formation Records and also residency at Hysteria from 95 up until the present, it was during this period of time that $pyda aquired the tag ’Black Tarantula’ courtesy of Bassman .... this is now a legendary collaboration of MC’s that ruled the midlands D&B circuit for the latter half of the 90’s.
